I’m kicking off my new theme, Strong Women Saturday, with three quotes about strong women by strong women.
The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off. ~ Gloria Steinem
Women have to work much harder to make it in this world. It really pisses me off that women don’t get the same opportunities as men do, or money for that matter. Because lets face it, money gives men the power to run the show. It gives men the power to define our values and to define what’s sexy and what’s feminine and that’s bullshit. At the end of the day, it’s not about equal rights, it’s about how we think. We have to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves. — Beyoncé
Life shrinks or expands in proportion with one’s courage. — Anaïs Nin

From the moment we are born the expectations of our culture manipulate us into well-behaved, social beings who will contribute to our society, produce, consume and behave. Men and women are shaped and shackled by oppressive, cookie-cutter-expectations. Yet something within us rebels. We want to be more. We want to be different. We want to be. We need to break free.
Strong Women Saturday
Feeling the chains of conformity is not an exclusively female experience. It is a human experience. But since I am a woman, I see it from a female point of view. In my new series, Strong Women Saturday, I will explore the topic of gender expectations, self-awareness and empowerment and their effect on our society and the world.
How much difference can one woman make?
Photo – I made it on Canva. For the record. I am not suggesting that women who enjoy being with friends on the beach are dumb, but rather that women when they get together talk about thought provoking subjects.
